have a huge number of common characteristics that are similar and combine on the same basis. Thus, course deals with the mutual aesthetic elements that makes cinema approximate to plastic arts, as well
as the contributions of the variables regarded as basic principles of plastic arts such as composition which is constituted of light, color, texture, rhythm,balance to cinematographic structure. This course will trace the children?s literature that; empowers children and youth, accompanies them while discovering themselves and the world around them, develops their imagination, increases their joy of life and that is liberating/ empowering and is nowhere near didacticism, Most of the dramatic texts take on the task to get the child to understand and to impress upon the rules of the world, to condition and to put them in line rather than to comprehend the world of the child. Contemporary literary texts to be read during the course will be inspiring as alternatives to the existing dramatic texts for the plays to be produced by the graduate students.

The problematical point of view, that underestimates children and young people, evaluates them as ?deficient, raw, inadequate? is reflected in the theater as well. Yet the child and youth are neither miniatures nor extensions of adults; they are individuals with their own unique affections, attitudes and behaviors. As a matter of fact, children?s and youth theater is an aesthetic category that demands high standards just like adult theater. In the extent of this course, examples of children?s and youth theater from Turkey and abroad will be watched and discussed, plays will be evaluated comprehensively with the topics of text, acting and design elements and basic criteria, for quality theater plays that take children and youth seriously, will be determined through these examples.
