The aim of this course is to provide a broad overview of such selected topics in social psychology as the self and the motives related to self-esteem; social cognition and attribution; close relationships and attachment; aggression and helping behavior; and social identity, stereotyping, and prejudice. It is also aimed at introducing current theoretical approaches, research paradigms, and findings of the field of social psychology. After completing this course, students should have a good understanding of the primary research traditions in social psychology, the types of questions social psychologists address, and the current state of knowledge in this field.
