The aim of this course is to review basic concepts and theories of self and identity depending on the relevant research results. Specifically, the theories of self-concept, self-esteem, self-presentation, authentic personality, social identity theory and category differentiation model will be discussed.

To comprehend the nature of science and scientific research, to acquire rational thinking skills, to acquire knowledge and insight necessary for preparing an research project.

Application of the knowledge of scientific research methods learned gained in Research Method course, in literature analysis and in development of the research plan (proposal).

The main purpose of this course is to provide detailed information on the research methods and techniques used in the field of social psychology. Firstly, different research designs with the issues of internal and external validity will be addressed. Moreover, information about the various data collection methods and procedures (e.g., psychophysiological methods, priming and implicit measurement, behavioral observation and coding, and event-sampling) will be provided. In this course, it is also aimed to improve students? skills in planning and conducting scientific research in social psychology.

The main aim of this course is to address individual differences on the basis of different theories and concepts in psychology. Moreover, the role of social factors will also be examined. Specifically, in this course, theoretical approaches regarding personality traits (, the effects of positive and negative affect, hope, optimism, and effects on authenticity interpersonal relationships (attachment styles, attributional styles, social exchange), gender and culture are discussed.

The main aim of this course is to review the basic theoretical approaches in the field of social psychology and the research results based on these theoretical approaches. Specifically, authoritarian personality theory, social comparison theory, social exchange theory, attachment theories, social identity theory, attribution theories, contradictory personality theory, system legitimation theory, just world belief theory, flow theory, terror management theory, social identity theories will be discussed. Thus, students will be able to explain and discuss social behavior from different perspectives.

In this course it is aimed to introduce basic principles and practices of sociocultural approach in working with desadvantaged groups in the community readings on theoretical basis together with practices in the social projects and on evaluation of them are planned. Working in the community, importance of system approach, establishing relationships, group dynamics, developing attachment relationships and supporting desadvantaged children and adolescents are basic subjects and it is aimed to examine research results and theoretial knowledge and evaluation of this field. Furthermore it is aimed to work on intervention method and principles basing on created supporting cultural atmosphere and secure supporting relationships for integration of desadvantaged children and adolescents

This course focuses on recent research examining the causes of social cognition, social emotions, and social behavior, and will tend to focus on experimental approaches to the examination of those causes. It also introduces the process of designing and conducting experimental research in the field of social psychology in the light of classic and contemporary experiment examples conducted on various social psychological phenomena. This course also aims to improve students? skills in planning and conducting experimental research in social psychology.

The qualifying examination aims to assess doctoral students? comprehensive knowledge in psychology, their competence in research methodologies, and their ability to conduct scientific analysis. The examination evaluates the student?s understanding of core areas of psychology, theoretical perspectives within their field of specialization, current research, and scientific methods. Conducted in written and/or oral formats, the examination measures the student?s ability to critically interpret scientific literature, integrate theoretical knowledge with research processes, and provide original academic evaluations. Successful completion of the qualifying examination allows students to proceed to the doctoral dissertation stage.

The doctoral dissertation aims to enable students to conduct an original and comprehensive research study in the field of psychology using appropriate scientific methods. During this process, students review the relevant literature in depth, develop a theoretical framework, determine appropriate research methods and techniques, and carry out data collection and analysis procedures. Interpreting research findings in accordance with scientific standards and reporting them following academic writing conventions constitute essential components of the dissertation process. The course aims to develop students? abilities to conduct independent research, contribute to scientific knowledge, and produce original scholarship in their field.
