Most variables studied in educational research cannot be observed directly. In order to study such unobservable constructs, also called latent variables, we need valid and reliable measurement instruments that draw upon solid theoretical foundations. This course aims to teach graduate students how to develop or adapt instruments (scales) that can be used in educational research.

The theoretical opinions which are the basis of the development of pre-school education and the programs prepared in light of these theories will be developed and discussed.

The course Social Emotional Learning in Early Childhood Education aims to enhance the social and emotional development of young children. The course provides students with theoretical frameworks and tools to understand children's emotional and social development. Additionally, students will have opportunities to develop practical strategies and effective teaching techniques to support children's social and emotional growth. Topics covered include designing and implementing appropriate curricula and activities to enhance children's self-regulation, problem-solving, empathy, social relationship building, and other social skills. The course highlights the importance of early childhood social and emotional development and provides a roadmap for those interested in pursuing a career in this field.

The aim is the discussion of the fundamental gaps of ?Cognitive Process?, the explanation of the transmission from reasoning to creativity. The content of the course is composed of reasoning, problem solving, consciousness, attention, language, sleeping, dominance, praxis, learning and learning disabilities, creativity, aesthetic emotions, perception of sound and music, recognition by tasting, smelling, and hearing.

The aim of this course is to understand theoretical foundations and principles of addiction, to teach addiction which is a bio-psycho-social process, its dynamics and varieties, to help gain necessary methods and techniques which will be used while counseling addicted individuals and their families.

In this course, the field of counseling is discussed in terms of concepts and techniques regarding to changing needs of individuals and society. The course includes contemporary theories (psychoanalytical, Adlerian, existential, gestalt, behavioral, feminist, and solution based brief therapy) and pracrices.

The aim of this course is to be able to learn basic concepts of problem solving skills, to learn the stages of interpersonal problem solving skills developing, to apply the steps, to learn about the relationship between problem solving and mental problems and to learn how to make the evaluation.

Measurement instruments are used in psychology to categorize, order and/or quantify constructs being studied. Research and ultimately science rests heavily on measurement and as such measurement with sound instruments makes scientific progress possible. This course aims to provide information about the measurement tools specifically in psychology for the students in guidance and psychological counseling master program. Besides, another main aim of this course is to educate the students on the development and adaptation process of psychological measurement tools.

Psychological counselors work with families as well as individuals. In this context, the aim of this course is to examine the theoretical foundations, intervention methods and implications of current family counseling approaches (as Systemic and Strategic, Structural, Intergenerational, Experiential, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Solution-oriented and Post-modern approaches). The course will cover the philosophical roots of each family counseling approach, its purpose, the consultation process, the role of the consultant, theoretical case documentation and case presentations. In terms of psychological counseling, it is aimed to drawing attention to the development of family counseling in Turkey, in order to provide information about the application to revise their existing family counseling and family counseling practitioners to practice-oriented studies.
